Studio, Classes and Demos
From basic to advanced techniques of glassblowing, Vulcan Glass Art Studio offers a class for everyone. Learn and practice the skills that will have you creating marbles, dishes, ornaments jars and more in no time.
Private Classes:
Glassblowing 101: Solid Working - This class teaches the basics of working with glass. The projects for this class will be simple wearable pendants and the focus is on learning the intricacies of how glass moves and flows. No prior glassblowing experience is necessary. This is a 2 hour class for up to 3 people. Class is $175.
Glassblowing 102: Hollow Working - This class builds upon skills learned in Glassblowing 101 and begins to delve into blown glass. Projects will be flare dishes, jars, or ornaments with focus on working with hollow glass. Glassblowing 101 or equivalent experience required. This is a 2 hour class for up to 3 people. Class is $175.
Glassblowing 201 - Intermediate Solid Working - This class expands on skills learned in Glassblowing 101, and expands your abilities with solid worked glass. Projects include Marbles and Paperweights with an emphasis on more advanced techniques and working with larger quantities of glass. Glassblowing 101 or equivalent experience required. This is a 2 hour class for up to 3 people. Class is $175.
Glassblowing 202 - Intermediate Hollow Working - This class expands on skills learned in Glassblowing 102 with an emphasis on more controlled manipulation of hollow glass. Projects will include compression pendants, advanced jars and attaching multiple pieces of hollow glass together. Glassblowing 102 or equivalent experience is required and additional practice time on the torch is highly recommended. This is a 3 hour class for up to 3 people. Class is $225.
Glassblowing 301: Advanced Glassworking - This is a much more free formed class to work towards whatever your end goal in glass may be. Class involves expanding on previous learned skills and refining those techniques while working towards your specific glassblowing goal. Class may be taken multiple times depending on student needs. Glassblowing 201 or 202 required, and all previous classes and additional torch time is highly recommended to get the best value from this class. This is a 3-4 hour class for up to 2 people. This class is $275.
Studio Rental Time: Hourly rental is available. This will include all materials (torch use, oxygen, glass, kiln and tools) and all products created are yours to take home. Glassblowing 101 or equivalent experience is required. Rental time is on a per person basis and Vulcan Glass Art Studio artist will be in studio to help with minor troubleshooting, but work is self guided. Rental is $40 per hour.
Public Classes:
Intro to Glassblowing - This class is designed to give students a grounding in the basics of glass working, whether your goal is to blow glass for a living or simply to have an enjoyable afternoon. Project will be a small piece of wearable jewelry, and the focus will be on learning to manipulate molten glass. All products created during this class are yours to keep. No prior experience is needed. Minimum age is 13 and the class is for up to 6 people. As there are 3 torches students will be switching off and are STRONGLY encouraged to watch each other when they aren't on the torch to better absorb the techniques. This is a 2 hour class and is $50 per person. Contact Vulcan Glass Art Studio to register for classes as they are on a first come first served basis.
